Top 5 films for a candlelit Halloween movie night

Hey boo! The most spooktacular season is upon us. It's time to embrace the dark, chilly nights so get yourself a pumpkin spice latte, pretend your multipack of sweets is for trick-or-treaters, pop on your cosy jumper and dim the lights for the ultimate autumn movie night.

We asked our instagram community what their go to Halloween movie is and they didn't disappoint! So without further ado, here are our top 5 movies (which just so happen to be from the nineties/noughties) to watch this Halloween. Along with the perfect candle pairing, because it wouldn't be autumn without the comforting glow of a cosy candle, right?


1. Practical Magic

Practical Magic is a cult classic that should be at the top of your Halloween movie list this year. This bewitching 90's film sees Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock playing the spell-binding Owen sisters. It's a wonderful tale of friendship, family, love and sister solidarity.

Candle pairing: The Star Gazer

With notes of lavender for luck, soothing vanilla and earthy woods, this spellbinding candle has a luxurious aroma straight out of Sally's botanical shop.


2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Double, double, toil and trouble ♪ ♫ ... step aside Christmas, Halloween is the best time to start your Harry Potter moviethon! Celebrate Halloween with a walk through the forbidden forest, fighting the "troll in the dungeon!" and seeing Quirrell's face disintegrate... this childhood classic is packed with equally disturbing, funny and heartwarming moments.

Let this warm and woody candle transport you straight the the Gryffindor common room. Woody notes of sandalwood are softened with the sweet aroma of tonka beans, evoking the feeling of sitting around a crackling log fire with Harry and the gang.


3. Hocus Pocus

Halloween wouldn't be complete without a visit to Salem, Massachusetts where the Sanderson sisters have been resurrected just in time for Halloween!

A nostalgic movie calls for a nostalgic scent! Toasty Toddy has delicious notes of baked apple and cinnamon. The aroma of mulled cider smells like autumn in a mug.

Growing up, you were either a kid that was terrified of ghostface or dressed up as ghostface. I was absolutely terrified! Which were you? Either way, you'll need your drink, popcorn and candle ready before the movie begins as this iconic slasher will put you off being near cupboard doors any time soon!

Help Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) rest in peace with this comforting candle. Soothing notes of cocoa and patchouli will help you get through the 19 jump scares.


5. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Can you think of a movie as visually beautiful as The Nightmare Before Christmas?! Step into a magical stop motion world of spookiness, addictive songs and charming characters.

Stumble across Christmas Town with Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King whilst the scent of glazed orange mingled with warming notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove dance through your home.
